Nathan Benedict, Broker - Commercial

Nathan Benedict

Nathan Benedict joined Ewing & Clark in 2012 and began his commercial real estate career with a focus on restaurant, nightclub, and retail sales and leasing, as well as on re-development opportunities with a special focus on the Pike-Pine neighborhood.

Before working at Ewing and Clark, he owned and operated Thumper's Restaurant and Bar on Capitol Hill for over 20 years with his longtime partner, Steve Nyman. Previous to Thumper's, Nathan and Steve owned another restaurant, The Inside Passage, in what is now known as the Melrose Market block.

With a long history of owning small businesses as well as personally owning commercial real estate with his partner, he is very knowledgeable of the needs and challenges facing small business people. He hopes to help other business people achieve their dreams and financial goals by helping place them in the best possible position in terms of commercial real estate.

Prior to the restaurant business, Nathan was an Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Nevada, Reno where he taught both undergraduate and graduate classes, and carried out research for both the National Park Service and the National Forest Service. His educational background includes a B. A. in Botany from Duke University, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California, Davis.

A transplanted Connecticut Yankee, Nathan enjoys sailing in the Pacific Northwest, traveling, road trips, music, and reading.
