History

The area's first settlers set up their homes near the Sammamish River, and a logging camp was established in 1876 in the area that would later become downtown Bothell. The Sammamish River served as an important waterway for shipping goods and passengers until Lake Washington was lowered in 1917. Post-World War II development brought highways and residential development, and in 1992 Bothell doubled its population by annexing the town of Canyon Park. Today it is a thriving job center.

Downtown Bothell is in the midst of a comprehensive revitalization, with the construction of a new City Hall, extension and enhancement of Main Street, an expanded Park at Bothell Landing, and increased private development, the city is hoping to attract even more residents and businesses. Bothell is just a short drive from Woodinville's wine country, and offers easy access to countless outdoor activities. A small-town feel makes this an attractive area for families.
