Seattle Real Estate Spotlight: Lake Forest Park
True to its name, Lake Forest Park is a wooded residential area adjacent to the northwest corner of Lake Washington. Many homes here have views of the lake, and there is a small section of waterfront properties, all in a park-like setting.
History
Lake Forest Park began as a logging community in the late 1800's, and was platted by real estate developer Ole Hanson in approximately 1910. Hanson named the area "Lake Forest Park" in order to draw prospective residents to the pristine natural landscape. Lake Forest Park incorporated as a city in 1961 in order to help preserve its community identity.
Points of Interest
Lake Forest Park offers residents countless opportunities for outdoor recreation. The Burke-Gilman walking and cycling trail is nearby; and there are numerous parks and nature reserves. The Town Center shopping area offers grocery shopping, banks, and other businesses. Third Place Books serves as a community gathering place, offering a food court, a community room, and performance stages.
