Seattle Real Estate Spotlight: Issaquah

Issaquah is a quickly growing Eastside suburb located at the south end of Lake Sammamish, just east of Bellevue. Surrounded by mountains on three sides, many homes in the area boast breathtaking views. Issaquah retains its small-town feel thanks to a quaint downtown district, and a wide range of community events makes it an attractive neighborhood for families.

History

Originally founded as the town of Gilman to support mining operations on nearby Cougar and Squak mountains, Issaquah was incorporated in 1892. After both the mining and timber industries faded in the early 20th century, the area remained relatively rural until big-name employers such as Boeing, Microsoft, and Costco prompted an influx of new residents and development.
