Seattle Real Estate Spotlight: Normandy Park

Normandy Park is a waterfront community on Puget Sound located between Burien and Des Moines. Homes here sit on large picturesque lots and have views of the Sound and the Olympic mountains. An emphasis on pedestrian safety makes this a very family friendly city. There is a strong sense of community here, and residents proudly support the city’s local businesses.

History

Normandy Park was conceived by the Seattle-Tacoma Land Company as a residential community incorporating French Normandy-style architecture. By 1929, the area had been platted and municipal services were built, including a community clubhouse, but the depression brought development to a standstill until the late 1940’s. The area added enough residents to incorporate as a city in 1953.

Points of Interest

Normandy Park is home to more than 100 acres of public parks, and a two-mile loop trail offers access to Normandy Beach Park. Normandy Park Towne Center offers groceries, dining, and shopping options.
