True to its name, Lake Forest Park is a wooded residential area adjacent to the northwest corner of Lake Washington. History

Founded as a logging community in the late 1800’s, the town wasn’t platted by real estate developer Ole Hanson until approximately 1910. Hanson named the area “Lake Forest Park” in order to draw prospective residents to the pristine natural landscape. Finally, the town was incorporated as a city in 1961 in order to help preserve its community identity.

The quaint but vibrant city offers residents countless opportunities for outdoor recreation. The Burke-Gilman walking and cycling trail is nearby; and there are numerous parks and nature reserves. The Town Center shopping area offers grocery shopping, banks, and other businesses. Third Place Books serves as a community gathering place, offering a food court, a community room, and performance stages.
