Spotlight on Windermere

Where is Windermere

Windermere is a beautiful, affluent, residential neighborhood in Northeast Seattle. Situated along the western side of Lake Washington, it’s a highly desirable place to reside for those looking to live in Seattle without the worries of city life.

Map of Windermere

The district’s development began in the 1800’s when forests were cleared to make way for homesteaders. By the early 1900’s developers began to see the potential for waterfront residential real estate. Windermere officially became annexed into Seattle in 1910.

The Characteristics of Windermere

The density being lower than in other areas in Seattle gives the neighborhood a secluded feel. The main road in town, Sand Point Way, runs parallel to the Burke-Gilman Trail. This trail was once a railroad track that has been converted into a bike path exclusive to bikers, roller bladders, joggers, and walkers.
